Undergraduate Cadet Officer Application 2025 KDU – Kotelawala Defence University

Eligibility Criteria:

The candidate should, 

1. Be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
2. Be not less than 18 years and not more than 22 years of age by 06.06.2025.
3. Be unmarried
4. Candidates who have sat for the 2023 (2024) or 2024 G.C.E. A/L examination (except for the MBBS
5. Degree Programme). The G.C.E A/L year considered for the MBBS degree programme is 2024.
6. Be Eligible to apply for university admission in Sri Lanka (Only applicable to the candidates who appeared for G.C.E. AL)
7. Have passed the G.C.E. A/L Common General Test (within 3 sitting) (Minimum 30 Marks).
8. Candidates who have sat and received results of the Cambridge/Edexcel (A/L) or equivalent foreign examination from 20.07.2024 to 06.06.2025 are eligible to apply for university admission and are considered for all degree programmes.
9. Having a minimum of a Credit (C) pass for English language at G.C.E. O/L or at Cambridge/Edexcel for all degree programmes, except for TESOL, which requires a Very Good (8) pass. 

Application Procedure:

• Candidates should apply for degree programmes via online at www.kdu.ac.lk, and applications by post will not be accepted.
• Candidates should make a non-refundable fee of LKR 2000/= (Sri Lankan Rupees) per degree programme online as the application processing fee
• Example: A candidate applying for 2 degree programmes should credit LKR 4000/=

Important: 

• General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University reserves the exclusive right to shortlist the candidates for interviews.
• Selected candidates will be required to enter into an agreement and sign a bond with the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, prior to admission to General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University.
• Selected Officer Cadets will be assigned to a mandatory military course for a period decided by the University prior and/or after the commencement of the degree programme.
• Upon successful completion of the degree, Officers are required to serve for a compulsory period.

Age Limit:

• Be not less than 18 years and not more than 22 years of age by 06.06.2025.

Salary Scale:

• An Officer Cadet will be paid a salary of approximately LKR 105,000 per month (including training allowance during the training period).
