Civil Engineer – Ceylon Petroleum Corporation Colombo 09

Job Description:

Recruitment of Engineers on Contract Basis for the Tanks Development Project at the Trincomalee Tank Farm Complex belonging to Ceylon Petroleum Corporation. Applications are invited from citizens of Sri Lanka to be considered for the Civil Engineer Post.

Required Qualifications for the above posts:

• BSc Engineering degree in Civil Engineering obtained from a University accepted by the University Grant commission and post qualified experience of 03 years as an Engineer worked in development projects at recognized organizations. 
• Possessing Chartered /Postgraduate / Professional Qualification (such as PMP or any other certifications relevant to Civil Engineering) will be an added qualification.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Civil engineering works required for site preparation, including soil testing, grading, drainage, and foundation design for tank and equipment installations. 
2. Study/Generate/Modify/Verify the Engineering Drawings related to the Civil works under the 24 Tanks Development Project in Trincomalee Tank farm using Auto CAD and Autodesk Civil 3D. 
3. Work with geotechnical engineers to assess soil stability and implement proper reinforcement measures. 
4. Ensure that foundation design meets all load requirements, factoring in material storage, seismic, and environmental considerations. 
5. Supervise civil construction activities, including excavation, grading, compaction, concrete pouring, and erection of structural elements. 
6. Coordinate with subcontractors, monitor their adherence to design specifications, and ensure quality control. 
7. Conduct regular site inspections to ensure safety, compliance, and adherence to project plans. 
8. Collaborate closely with the process, electrical and mechanical engineering teams to integrate civil structures with piping, electrical, and storage requirements. 
9. Participate in project meetings, providing updates on progress, challenges, and risk mitigation strategies, using Gantt charts generated from MS Project, and Primavera P6. 
10. Ensure that all construction activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as project-specific safety and environmental guidelines. 
11. Prepare and review technical documentation, including construction plans, specifications, and permits. 
12. Conduct and document site surveys, prepare progress reports, and update construction schedules as needed. 
13. Perform quality assurance checks, ensuring that construction work meets project specifications and acceptable industry standards of CIDA practiced in Sri Lanka 
14. Develop and implement safety protocols for all civil works, minimizing risks associated with excavation, heavy equipment use, and hazardous material handling. 
15. Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans for potential construction hazards. 
16. Performing/involving in any other related duties entrusted by the PMU and the Higher Management when and where necessary.

Salary Scale:

• Rs 185,895.00 + Cost of Living Rs. 10,000 + Rs.5,250 + Professional Allowance as 10% of the Basic Salary

Age Limit: 

• Should not be more than 30 years of age as at closing date of applications

Service condition:

• Contract Basis for 01 Year

General:

• The Project will contribute 12% of the salary towards the EPF, whilst the employee will have to contribute 08%. 
• The Corporation will also contribute 3% of the salary towards the ETF. 
• Note:- This contractual appointment will not entitle or legally bind any permanent appointment in the Corporation.
