Wiley is looking for a Software Engineering Manager to join our rapidly expanding Data Analytics and Insights teams. You will work closely with the engineering and business leadership, engineering teams, project managers, architects and other business stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered to expectations and solicit feedback on issues.
How you will make an impact:
- Own DA&I Scrum teams and be responsible for the quality, timely deliveries.
- Revisit the process and practices in a periodic manner and make necessary improvements based on data/metrics to improve quality and efficiencies of technical teams.
- Drive Initiatives and Communities that are targeted to improve the knowledge of engineers in the team such as data and analytics engineering, data visualizing, cloud computing, microservices, EBPs, etc.
- Drive recruitment processes, own onboarding engineers, setting up development plans/objective and performance reviews.
- Work with the leading universities in Sri Lanka to conduct training programs, attend careers day fairs and drive the internship programs which will result in attracting prospective fresh graduates to Wiley.
We are looking for people who have:
- BSc in Computer Science or related field is a must, preferably an MSc in Statistics, Mathematics or Computer Science.
- Must have a minimum of 12 years’ experience in the software industry including 3 years in a data science position.
- Proven hands-on experience in Data Science, Data Engineering or Analytics Engineering is a must.
- Good people management skills with the ability to identify bright talent as well as grooming technology staff to the next level. Be able to motivate teams and achieve high goals.
- Proven experience in Java, Python, SQL and web technologies. AWS and other architecture patterns, caching technologies.
- A strong advocate of technology methodologies including Agile (SCRUM), continuous integration/ continuous development, automation and engineer best practices.
