Main duties and responsibilities
- Researching and gathering information for features
- Writing and editing features and interviews in the publication's house style
- Ensuring work is well written, accurate and submitted to deadline
- Conducting interviews
- Generating ideas for stories
- Planning and organizing assignments
- Meeting with colleagues to plan the content of the issue and/or develop concepts for other projects
- Keeping up to date with trends and developments relating to the magazine's subject matter.
- Sub-editing, proofing your own or other writers' copy, as well as design work.
- Compiling and checking digital content
- Ability to write press releases
Requirements
- Candidate must possess a Diploma or Degree
- Excellent command of the English language with good communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to communicate in Sinhala and/or Tamil will be an advantage.
- Able to deliver high quality work on time and work under pressure.
- You should be well organized and a good multi-tasker.
- Knowledge and/or experience in digital media.
- Knowledge of the concise writing style needed for the internet and search engine optimisation.
