Trainee Software Engineer (Intern) - LiveRoom Technologies Nugegoda

Job Description:

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Software Engineering Intern to join our development team. The ideal candidate will gain hands-on experience in the software development lifecycle, coding best practices, and debugging techniques, while actively contributing to building and improving high-quality software solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Software Development:

• Assist in developing and maintaining software applications under the guidance of senior software engineers.
• Contribute to coding tasks, following coding standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with the development team to understand technical requirements and contribute to the overall design of software components.
• Conduct code reviews and incorporate feedback provided by senior engineers.
• Assist in identifying and resolving software defects and issues.

Testing and Quality Assurance:

• Participate in the testing process, including writing and executing test cases.
• Collaborate with quality assurance engineers to identify and troubleshoot software defects.
• Assist in the setup and maintenance of test environments and test data.
• Record and document test results and issues using appropriate tools or defect tracking systems.
• Contribute to the overall quality assurance efforts, ensuring software meets specified requirements and standards.

Documentation and Technical Support:

• Assist in creating and maintaining technical documentation, such as user guides or developer manuals.
• Contribute to the improvement of documentation standards and templates.
• Provide technical support to end-users or clients by troubleshooting issues and providing solutions.
• Collaborate with the support team to investigate and resolve reported software issues.

Learning and Professional Development:

• Actively learn and gain practical experience in software development methodologies, tools, and industry best practices.
• Participate in training sessions, workshops, and knowledge-sharing activities organised by the development team.
• Collaborate with mentors and senior software engineers to seek guidance and feedback for professional growth.
• Stay updated with emerging trends and technologies in software engineering.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as designers, testers, and project managers, to ensure successful project execution.
• Communicate effectively with team members, providing progress updates and seeking clarification when necessary.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas and suggestions for process improvement.
• Actively engage in discussions and share knowledge within the development team.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of programming languages, such as Java, C++, Python, or JavaScript, etc.
• Beginner-level experience in Flutter & Dart will be an added advantage.
• Familiarity with software development principles, coding standards, and best practices.
• Knowledge of software development tools and frameworks is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented with good organisational and documentation skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
• Enthusiasm for learning and a proactive approach to tasks and responsibilities.
