The University of Jaffna (UOJ) is a public university in Sri Lanka. It was established in 1974 as a campus of the University of Sri Lanka, and became an independent university in 1979. The establishment of a full-fledged University in Jaffna had been a long standing aspiration of the people of Jaffna. 

The University of Jaffna has two campuses — the main campus in Thirunelvely in Jaffna and a second campus in Vavuniya.
