The Chilaw Plantations Limited (CPL) was established by making an order under section 2 of the Conversion of Public Corporations or Government-Owned Business Undertakings into Public Companies Act No. 22 of 1987 (CPCGOBUIPC Act) by the Extra Ordinary Gazette Notification No. 718/16 dated 11-06-1992 signed by the Registrar of Companies.
