Senior Manager-Finance and Tax

The eligible candidates are encouraged to apply for the position of Senior Manager-Finance and Tax at Standard Chartered Bank.
 
The Role Responsibilities

Tax Related

  • Ensure Tax compliance in all aspects with prevailing tax statutes.
  • Be the single point of contact for tax matters and assume responsibility to track tax compliance in all aspects.
  • Ensure all tax payments are calculated accurately and paid on time.
  • Review tax related GL accounts maintained by Operations Units, on a periodic basis, to ensure the accounting procedures have been properly followed.
  • Assist the FC/Head of Finance by liaising with tax authorities, tax consultants and auditors on tax matters.
  • Providing tax advisory to business in consultation with expert opinion.
  • Provide updates to Group and local management on new legislation, tax issues, litigation matters and non-compliances.
  • Arrange training for Bank staff on tax matters, as and when required.
  • Preparation of the quarterly TRR (Tax Risk Report) submission.
  • Maintaining of all tax trackers, correspondence with Revenue Authorities, ensure secure custody of tax returns and all submissions, as well as follow-ups with Group/Regional Tax chains.
  • Liaison point for the Customer Tax Information Reporting (CTIR) oversight role performed by Finance in relation to FATCA, CRS, etc.

Financial Accounting

  • Ensure the integrity of accounts used for recording of all tax transactions.
  • Ensure all tax payments and accruals are accurately accounted for, to reflect a true and fair view in the financial statements.
  • Ensure deferred tax positions are accurately ascertained and accounted for on a timely basis.
  • Oversight over the accounting process, annual audit and tax compliance of the two Pension Funds, Provident Fund and the any Residual Balance Sheets.
  • Contribute to the Bank's annual statutory audit.
  • Contribute to the IFRS pack compilation.
  • Co-ordinate with the Bank's actuary to finalise actuarial valuations.
  • Be able to contribute to technical accounting discussions, perform deep dive reviews

Financial Control

  • Perform Control Sampling Testing and follow up on exceptions to regularise.
  • Review GL reconciliations and follow up on exceptions to regularise.

Balance Sheet Management:

  • Contribute to the ALCO and Balance Sheet Management process
  • Contribute to the Bank's annual ICAAP process.

Others:

  • Provide effective back up to other team members, as required.
  • Assist FC/Head of Finance with any other special projects assigned from time to time.

 
Our Ideal Candidate

  • Associate member/Passed finalist of CIMA/ACCA/ICASL.
  • At least 07 years of working experience in an audit firm or in the Finance function of a Bank or Financial Services sector organisation.
  • A good working understanding of local tax statutes/directives would be an advantage.
  • A good knowledge of IFRSs/SLFRSs.
  • Very conversant with MS Excel, Word and Power Point applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
