Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan for new installations/ modifications and oversee all maintenance activities in areas such as air conditioning, boilers, generators, iron, heat seal, cutting machines, air compressors etc. whilst ensuring effective allocation of resources in order to ensure that work is carried out as per requirements.
  • Together with Electricians ensure electrical/ electronic breakdowns at the factory are solved in a timely manner thereby, facilitating uninterrupted operations.
  • Complete/ engage in factory construction/ expansion as and when requested, coordinate with Contractors, supervise workmanship, ensure the timely completion of same whilst, following-up on the relevant payments thereby, meeting organizational expectations in an effective manner.
  • Ensure adherence to energy saving initiatives in order to reduce waste and conserve energy whilst conducting awareness programs pertaining to same, been the point person for sustainability initiatives.
  • Ensure electrical/ electronic breakdowns within the factory are solved in a timely manner to facilitate uninterrupted operations.
  • Ensure all details pertaining to electricity, water, fuel etc. are updated on a monthly basis and service agreements are renewed yearly to be able to effectively perform operations.
  • Monitor and maintain the needle ordering and issuance for the plant whilst, coordinating with relevant Supplier(s) and factory teams to ensure plant requirements are fulfilled in a timely and effective manner.
  • Ensure implementation of MOS projects (TPM), according to the agreed plan
  • Ensure the training and development needs of subordinates are identified and communicated to relevant personnel, suitable development interventions are implemented and monitored in order to ensure that the capabilities of the Mechanical team are developed in line with current and future organizational requirements.
  • Prepare the budget for all spare parts and new machinery on an annual basis whilst, considering the requirements for the plant for the next budgeting year
  • Oversee the MIPS process (Machine in/ out process) and machine spare parts whilst carrying out the following:
  • Maintain the system accuracy of the MIPS system and ensure that the data is accurate and constantly updated
  • Obtain/ retrieve data from the MIPS system according to the requirements.
  • Facilitate the feeding of lines by carrying out the following:
  • Ensure machines and attachments are available on the line feeding day
  • Allocate Mechanics to feed the lines
  • Assist in adjusting machines to Operator requirements
  • Ensure critical machines are set before line feeding in order to make sure the timely feeding of lines.

This role will also:

  • Coordinate with Work Study in order to obtain details on future machine/ attachment requirements, machine settings and ensure the timely provision of same thereby, facilitating a smooth operations flow.
  • Ensure the purchase of required equipment whilst, making recommendations to the management and follow-up until purchases are in-house undertaking the following activities:
  • Liaise with Suppliers, request and obtaining the quotations for new purchases whilst, evaluating them for price & service benefits.
  • Obtain approval for quotations and raise purchase orders in relation to the quotation.
  • Coordinate machinery/ equipment movements both in/ out of the plant, carrying-out the following activities:
  • Check machines/ maintenance spare parts arriving at the BOI Zone by verifying actual goods received against BOI approvals raised by the Commercial department, in order to ensure machines are cleared and received as per BOI procedures [This involves the movement of rented machinery as well as new machinery]
  • Maintain records/ reports such as the following in an accurate and timely manner, thereby, supporting organizational requirements pertaining to Compliance initiatives/ requirements:
  • Inspection and completion of routine checklist, service and calibration report and energy audit report.
  • Ensure adherence to factory standards and measures pertaining to Health and Safety/ Electrical and Mechanical Safety whilst, engaging in the maintenance activities of same thereby, facilitating the process of providing safe work conditions.
  • Take responsibility for fire safety within the premises by adhering to set processes and procedures such as timely conduction of fire drills, maintenance of fire extinguishers, awareness and trainings, etc.

 
Skills and Knowledge:

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • 3 - 4 years of relevant work experience (Experience within the Garment Industry – Advantageous)
  • Knowledge of Compliance standards/ Sustainability Initiatives.
  • Good Analytical skills.
  • Computer Literate.
