Summary
We are looking for a Data Engineering specialist with a minimum of 6 years experience in software engineering to join our exciting and rapidly expanding team in Sri Lanka. This position is a hands-on development position where you will be responsible for the development of Wiley’s CrossKnowledge data pipeline platform. You will leverage your in-depth knowledge of software engineering and data collections/visualization skills to work closely with architects, engineers, and product owners in France, Brazil, and Sri Lanka. You will also ensure your commitment to the highest quality standards both in functional and non-functional areas.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement robust & secure data pipelines into a Snowflake data warehouse from on-premise and cloud data sources
- Maintain, refactor, rework software code whenever identified as necessary by the software group and approved by the product team
- Be accountable for the performance, scalability, and accuracy of any implemented dashboard or report
- Practice high-quality development methods: unit tests writing, code review, code standards, test automation, integration technical documentation
- Manage the team, be accountable for team deliveries, work on performance appraisals and provide guidance and mentoring to the team.
Requirements:
- BSc in computer science or equivalent. A master's degree will a definite advantage.
- Minimum 6 years of hands-on experience in developing applications.
- Proven hands-on experience working with PHP and related frameworks such as Symfony.
- Good hands-on experience working with Amazon AWS, MySQL, GitHub, Jenkins, Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, SnowFlake, Apache Nifi & Kafka.
- Experienced in integrating and querying data from multiple platforms/tools including SQL sources, JSON, XML, CSV, REST APIs.
- Experienced in working with BI tools, preferably Microsoft Power BI will be an advantage.
- Experience in producing architectural diagrams and documentation in an analytics environment.
- Understanding of technology methodologies including Agile (SCRUM), continuous integration/ continuous development, and automation.
- Familiarity with JIRA and writing user stories.
