The Database Administrator will provide production and development support for all LCH Sybase database applications. This includes backup and recovery, performance analysis, data management and user and developer assistance. The DBA will also be responsible for database connectivity using ODBC, JDBC or vendor specific architectures. There are 5 vacancies available at London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) Sri Lanka.

 

Main responsibilities

Develop and maintain database build standards for Sybase, including how applications should be installed for both client access and server.

Monitor and manage database resources (disk space, event logs, etc.) and applications that require the database.

Undertake maintenance and upgrades, generally out of normal business hours including weekends.

Provide database design support to development projects.

Write ad-hoc queries as requested by users and/or developers.

Review all database application code and write stored procedures.

Release all database objects to non-production and production environments.

Manage and maintain the source code control system for the database objects.

 

Required Skills and Experience

The jobholder should likely be a graduate and have experience in supporting business critical applications and servers. In particular, the jobholder must have experience in the following:

SYBASE DBA- Extensive experience in Sybase ASE and Replication Server Administration. Current experience should be on 12.5.x and 15 including Transact SQL.

Experience working with Solaris and Veritas clustering.

ITIL.

SQL Server experience is a plus.

 

Person specification

Experience of working in the finance/banking sector would be an advantage.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at both business and technical level.

Excellent problem solving skills, able to think clearly under pressure and across technology boundaries.

The ability to plan and manage work and present a clear list of tasks and time frames to management.

Bachelors degree or equivalent in an IT related discipline

Good listening skills and attention to detail

Hardworking and dedicated and ambitious
