About The Job

This role will be responsible to deliver high quality DevOps/SRE capabilities ensuring highly automated products been invented and maintained across Datacenter and Cloud environments. With the limitless technology variations, it opens the opportunity for continuous dynamic innovations, conceptualizing strategies that will deliver faster, reliable and scalable applications. You will be hired as one of the best and brightest in your field who can challenge our team to think about solutions differently and contribute to the continuous growth of the team's performance.

Scope

You will form part of a global team that will drive best practice in the hybrid cloud ecosystem, we work in a lean agile fashion with fortnightly sprints. You will be expected to collaborate with and support other agile product development teams and operational teams whose primary responsibilities will be to support education services in production and pre-production environments.

Scope could include technical lead responsibilities, regional and functional influence, collaboration on global initiatives. Expectation to support 24/7/365/day on-call operations personnel. Some travel may be required (infrequent) and 16X5 On-desk support.

About You

Qualifications - External

We’re looking for passionate engineers with a hunger to learn and adapt to new technology quickly. We demand people who are naturally curious, can self-start and share learnings and outcomes effectively with a distributed team.

Things We Expect You To Know

  • Extensive engineering experience with Windows and Linux operating systems
  • In-depth, hands on experience with Cloud computing services (ie: AWS, Azure).
  • Expert command of config management principles
  • A deep understanding of distributed system design and dependency management
  • A strong grasp of monitoring tools, approach and implementation
  • Solid working experience of CI/CD and best practices & tools (Jenkins, GitLab etc.)
  • An established history of working in agile teams
  • DevOps should be more than a job title or a marketing fad!
  • How to collaborate with a globally distributed team of engineers using industry standard collaboration tools

Nice To Have

  • Relational and NoSQL Databases
  • Understanding on networking, security and load-balancers (F5, HAProxy, webproxy)

Desirable Skills

  • Actively engage throughout the software lifecycle/ Continuous delivery process from inception to operation and refinement.
  • Experience in maintain highly scalable, fault-tolerant and performant systems in conjunction with other disciplines and product engineering teams while focusing security aspects.
  • Build /configure CI/CD pipelines to ensure faster delivery and actively contribute to delivering web-scale products to a global market at high release velocity.
  • Experience working in a test-driven development environment.

Educational Skills/Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in DevOps/SRE and having experience in a leadership role will be an advantage.

Personal Skills

  • Proven solution leadership skills, with an ability to lead and facilitate solutioning initiatives
  • Previous experience contributing to war rooms and blameless postmortems
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Experience of working in a true DevOps environment with daily collaborations
  • Fluent in English as a business language
