About the Role:
This role is as an integral part of the Data Analytics & Insights team at Wiley that is responsible for key global data integration, delivery through BI tools, planning modeling, statistical tools and data visualization solutions. The candidate will have a passion for diving deep into data in designing and implementing analytics applications and visualizations to ensure an optimal and intuitive user experience.
The Associate Technical Specialist- Analytics Engineering will work with the analytics team in analyzing the use cases and requirements from the business stakeholders and product teams for business KPIs, reporting, and dashboards. He/she will then involve in the entire SDLC for delivering those KPIs, reporting and dashboards utilizing industry-leading BI tools and technologies adhering to the acceptable timelines under an Agile development environment.
 
How you will make an impact:

  • Participate in analyzing the use cases and requirements from the business stakeholders and product teams for various business KPIs, reporting, and dashboarding needs.
  • Participate in design discussions and brainstorm / propose the most intuitive ways to analyze and visualize such KPIs and reporting needs.
  • Document such designs using appropriate mock-ups / tools and present to product and business stakeholders to get the sign-off for the designs.
  • Design and implement robust & secure data pipelines into a Snowflake data warehouse from on-premises and cloud data sources.
  • Design and implement containerized solutions to facilitate fault-tolerant and scalable workflows using Kubernetes/Argo.
  • Design and implement automated CI/CD data pipelines.
  • Follow a Test-Driven Development methodology, working closely with QE to ensure robust pipeline development.
  • Brainstorm/propose / R&D for the best technologies/tools to develop such analytics KPIs / Dashboards also adhering to the tools/technologies already used by the Wiley analytics team.
  • Develop the analytics solutions giving utmost attention to details and quality in terms of coding/development best practices and end-to-end testing.
  • Present the developed solutions in the form of KTs / Usage documentation etc., in order to successfully hand over the developed reports/dashboards to business and product users.
  • Participate in the entire agile development life cycle employed by the team and adhere to all the agile processes/ceremonies of the analytics team to support the smooth delivery of all assigned work

 
What we look for:

  • BS in Information management, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or related field.
  • MS (or following) in Data Analytics, Data Science, or related field will be advantageous.
  • 5+ years of experience in data and analytics, web development and integration, and visual design; hands-on experience in developing applications using Python.
  • Solid experience in working with BI tools preferably Microsoft Power BI and/or Qlik Sense or any other similar tool.
  • Solid understanding of different graph/visualization types for various business reporting needs.
  • Solid experience in integrating / querying data from multiple platforms/tools including but not limited to SQL sources, JSON, XML, CSV, REST APIs, etc.
  • Experience in developing and debugging in Nodejs, Express, HTML & CSS, and Java Scripting.
  • Prior experience and/or a solid understanding in working with a Dimensional Data Warehouse including Dims, Facts, and Star Schemas will be beneficial.
  • Good understanding of various drilling concepts such as drill-down, drill-across, etc., and also experience in implementing the same in graphs/reporting widgets.
  • Good understanding/experience in debugging slow-performing queries and optimization techniques will be beneficial.
  • Prior experience in commercially available or free/open-source graphing libraries for custom dashboard development will be beneficial.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills both verbal and written in English.
  • Experience in working in an agile development team.
  • Experience with JIRA usage will be beneficial.
  • Experience with writing analytics use cases in the form of user stories in JIRA will be beneficial.
