STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACH / TRAINER (FULL-TIME)

Sri Lanka Cricket are recruiting two full-time Strength & Conditioning Coaches / Trainers.

The two roles will involve working as part Of Sri Lanka's Sports Science and Medicine Department at the High Performance Centre, R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, supporting the men's and women's Pathway and Contracted players programme.

 

Responsible to:

•National Team Strength & Conditioning Coach

•Head of Sport Science & Medicine Department

•High Performance Manager

 

Main roles and responsibilities:

•Experience practicing as a Strength and Conditioning coach/Trainer, developing athlete physical preparedness for performance in environments with highly competing demands

•Experience of analysing the demands of cricket and defining and implementing a Strength and Conditioning strategy to support performance outcomes

• Experience of wcwking closely and effectively with sports coaches and members of an interdisciplinary team to promote performance outcomes

•Significant demonstrable record of applied Strength and Conditioning continuous professional development

 

The successful candidates Will demonstrate:

•Ability to identify strategic areas of focus, regarding Strength and Conditioning, for sports performance and translate into effective delivery in of planning, programming and coaching

•Highly effective at delivering high impact Strength and Conditioning that is underpinned by sound scientific evidence and practice-based rationale.

• Knowledgeable of other support services and their interplay with Strength and Conditioning within an interdisciplinary

team

•Ability to critically analyse subjective information and objective data to inform Strength and Conditioning practice

•Highly adaptable to known and unknown changes in the training environment and ability to maintain athlete focus.

•Very strong listening and communication skills

•High emotional intelligence and ability to operate effectively under pressure and debate on a highly professional level

•Very effective at delivering information to positively player and/or coach behaviur.

• Highly effective at fostering professional relationships with relevant parties to promote idea Sharing and collaboration

 

Essential requirement:

•Further education in a related industry subject

•Coaching qualifications

• 3 years' experience of working with high performance athletes (but this should not stop candidates without or with more applying)

•Safe and effective coaching skills

• Good understanding Of Strength & Conditioning programming, periodization and workload management

• Proficient in spoken Sinhalese

• Proficient in written and spoken English

• Good practical knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

 

Desirable Requirement:

•Undergraduate education in related industry subject

• Bsc/MSc Sports Science, Strength & Conditioning or related industry subject

• National certificate in Strength & Conditioning (NSCA/ASCA/UKSCA)

• First Aid Certificate

•5 years' experience working with high performance athletes

• Experience of working in or playing cricket

• Understanding of cricket specific Sports Science & Medicine

• Experienced with physical testing and GPS

• Fluent in written and spoken English

• Proficient in Microsoft including Excel and PowerPoint and other IT platforms related to the industry
