After A/L Courses in Sri Lanka - Professional Qualifications

With the end of GCE A/L examinations 2017 many school leavers will face the question, what to do next? While some students might consider waiting until the A/L results are released or start revisions depending whether they’ll retake A/L’s or not, the rest of you would think of using the time to gain some extra knowledge or qualification.
 
The following list consist of the professional qualifications you can obtain while awaiting GCE A/L results.
 
CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting
 
The CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting (Cert BA) will help students with little or no accounting experience unleash their true business potential. Teaching core business and finance skills beyond simple financial accounting, Cert BA syllabus is the perfect stepping stone towards a career in business and finance.

The Cert BA is a qualification in it's own right and also forms a formal entry route into the CIMA Professional Qualification. It consists of the following 4 modules.
 
BA1 Fundamentals of Business Economics
BA2 Fundamentals of Management Accounting
BA3 Fundamentals of Financial Accounting
BA4 Fundamentals of Ethics, Corporate Governance and Business Law
 
Course duration 6 months
Course fee includes CIMA membership fee, CIMA exam fees & study centre fees
 
CIM Foundation Certificate in Marketing
 
This qualification aims to equip you with the skills, knowledge and understanding to perform in a support-level marketing role. Covering both marketing principles and customer communications, this qualification will enable you to develop a good understanding of the wider role of marketing to apply in your future career progression.
 
It consists of the following 3 modules of which you can select 2 modules.
 
Marketing Principles (mandatory)
Customer Communications or Digital Essentials

IPM Foundation Course in Human Resource Management
 
Here’s a great opportunity to develop a career in Human Resource Management. IPM’s foundation course (FCHRM) is designed for those who are already employed at supervisory levels and for students hoping to pursue careers and further studies in HRM.
 
It’s 2 month course which consists of the following subjects.
 
Business Environment in Sri Lanka, Major Functions of Management, Organizational Basics, Introduction to HRM, Job Analysis, Job Description and Job Specifications, Recruitment, Systems and Procedures, Selection Procedures, Induction and Training, Employee Discipline, Labour Laws, Employee Relations, Personnel Records, Occupational Health & Safety, Leave & Absenteeism.

SLIM Preliminary Certificate in Marketing
 
The Preliminary Certificate in Marketing is a course with a duration of three months of study leading to Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing (Sri Lanka).
